## 白话译文

〈解式与长年行走，因为从高处长者身旁经过却不看长者所看的方向，于是用杖打了他。解式告到州里，州里判决为斗殴，省司断为应受矢入之刑。〉

设立教化来防备，礼就不会被违背；遇到长者不恭敬，祸患就会招来。如果训典不修习，那么用朴杖责打又有什么害处？看那解式，实在是个狡猾的少年。五个人同处，尚且听说要不同席而坐，年长十岁的，就必须跟随在后。他不奉行恭敬应答的礼仪，以致缺失了从长着面前经过时应有的礼数，迷惑于自己所看的方向，我凭什么来观察他呢。用杖来树立威势，本来就应当这样来止息祸害。小人掩饰过错，放肆地说些轻薄的话，君子责问奸邪，不应当助长傲慢，把他交给司败处置，足以显示对尊长的凌犯，按调人之职处理，可以证明他触犯了齿序之礼。况且州司用刑，颇为均平地用短绳衡量；会府加以纠察，对年长者的处理不同而且鞭打。以情理来处理小事大事，希望能宽猛相济。
