## 白话译文

谏议大夫廖真因事获罪被贬黜后，已经卧病在床，仍然使用大夫所用的竹席。御史检举他这样做不合法度，大理寺判定他无罪。

廖真谋求俸禄而列于朝班，既然身居大夫之职，立于朝廷束带为官，就应当勤勉保持公正之心。他没有留下美好的名声，不久便遭受罪罚牵累。他不是士师，却像展禽那样三次被黜；才能不同于河阳，却像潘仁那样再次被免。不久之后，猫头鹰之类带来祸端，鵩鸟停落造成灾异，肌肤腠理失调，起初惊现病魔入梦之兆，手足将要僵直，最终深切感到命赴九泉的悲哀。顾念那礼制仪容，必须依照贵贱之别；瞻望那法令格式，也备有条款。有德行才合于旌表门闾，没有官职实在应当更换竹席。他不思考林放的提问，不明白曾子的礼仪，宪司弹劾违失，实在是处置得当。
