## 白话译文

在大中五年，岁次辛未，五月朔，二日，湖州刺史杜牧恭敬地派遣军事十将徐良，恭敬地祭告故龚秀才的灵位。死是生的极致，折断胫骨而夭折，又是死的极致。说在前定，不能推知；出于偶然，魂其冤哉。乡里在哪里，骨肉是何人？卞山之南，可以栖魂。呜呼哀哉，伏惟尚飨！
