## 白话译文

臣说：臣听说佛教教化所依托的，在万物中都很隆盛，实在是因为它能拔除沉溺幽冥于六道，济度蒙昧无识于三乘：它的德既宏大，它的功也伟大。所以佛为法主，是幽显所归依；法为良药，烦恼惑业由此清荡；僧为佛种，宏大演教流传到未来。于是使历代英明君主，尊重道德而护持；清信贤明之人，度子女而承继：固然使僧尼遍布天下，垂范引导无穷。伏惟陛下慈济九有，开畅一乘，爱敬之道更加隆盛，成务之途更加远大。近来奉明诏，令僧跪拜父母，这是崇扬孝道之始，布范敬爱之源。但佛有成教，出家不拜其亲，想要使道俗殊途，归戒因此投附；出处两异，真俗因此乖离，无非是心受佛戒，形具佛仪，法纲悬殊，敬相全别。况且自高尚之风，人主尚且存抗礼，岂只臣下，反而受跪拜之仪？俯仰抚循，无由启处。意愿国无两敬，大开方外之迹，僧奉内教，便得立身行道。不胜私怀之至，谨奉表以闻，尘黩威严，伏增战越。谨言。
