妙論精言，不以多為貴，而人非聰明不能達其義。余嘗聽人讀佛書，其數十萬言謂可數談而盡，而溺其說者以謂欲曉愚下人，故如此爾。然則六經簡要，愚下人獨不得曉邪。

妙论精言，不以多为贵，而人如果不是聪明就不能通达它的义理。我曾听人读佛书，那数十万言可以说几次谈论就穷尽，而沉溺于其说的人认为要晓谕愚下的人，所以才这样。那么六经简要，愚下的人偏偏不能知晓吗。
