赐予土地、分封茅土，承担宗主的祭祀，立继承人应当用嫡子，不是凭才能就是凭贤德。如果像拜求玉璧那样求取，那佩玉难道就吉利吗？只有那个侯国，其次应当选择继承人。类似田氏得到文子，因为成就了爱客之名；如同无恤在赵国，不坠失继承家业之责。已经舍弃儿子而传给孙子，为什么抛弃今制而实行古道？虽然《檀弓》记载制服之礼，知道仲子的做法不对；而《唐棣》讲权变，也是宣尼的训导。请依从宗法之议，不要相信非议。
