《古今樂錄》曰：「《玄化》者，言上脩文訓武，則天而行，仁澤流洽，天下喜樂也。當漢《上邪》。」

玄化象以天，陛下聖真。張皇綱，率道以安民。惠澤宣流而雲布，上下睦親。君臣酣宴樂，激發絃歌揚妙新。脩文籌廟勝，須時備駕巡洛津。康哉泰，四海歡忻，越與三五鄰。

《玄化曲》凡十三句，其五句句五字，二句句三字，三句句四字，三句句七字。

《古今乐录》说：“《玄化》这首乐曲，是说皇上修明文教、训导武备，效法上天而行，仁德恩泽流布周洽，天下因此欢喜快乐。它对应的是汉代的《上邪》。

玄妙的教化取象于天，陛下圣明纯真。张大朝纲，遵循道义来安定百姓。恩惠德泽宣扬流布，如同云一样遍布，上下和睦亲密。君臣畅饮宴乐，激发弦歌，扬起美妙新声。修明文教，运筹庙堂胜算，等待时机准备车驾巡行洛水渡口。安康啊太平，四海欢欣，超越并邻于三皇五帝。
